SWG

I admit that I fell in love with the SWG world.  Growing up and watching Luke grow from a whiney voice breaking whelp of a dirt farmer to a master pilot and jedi knight lent a certain amount of romance to the star wars world.  And when we all started playing it was simple, you fight when you have to, and find a way to make your living in the universe.  It seemed like a great sci-fi scenario for any player to walk into.  And then it all went horribly wrong, NGE came out and took an amazingly dynamic game and reduced it to a sub WOW simplistic system in order to draw in a younger gaming audience.  I can admit honestly that the game was in need of some serious new content and a bit of revamping but ultimately the game that subscribers came to love died.

If you are thinking of picking up the game don't bother, most of the servers are barren wastelands without any other players to enjoy all the new content with.  I suppose if you are a solo player the game will have something to offer you with the combination of land based and space play, but solo play isn't why most people pick up an MMO.  The game has plenty of content to offer new players, but if you are planning on joining up PLEASE pick a server with a decent population.  The biggest problem facing the game right now is a lack of subscriber base, which is leading to vast expanses of gaming world that are largely empty save for NPC's.
